Diana Tang
Diana Tang was born in Guangdong and moved to Hong Kong with her parents during her childhood. She later immigrated to Canada from Hong Kong in her teens. Her great-grandmother was British, giving her an eighth of British heritage.
From a young age, she developed a passion for music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, and she showed a strong interest in Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, and Chinese classical literature and history.
In her early years:
In her early years, she studied the ancient qin (a traditional Chinese musical instrument) under the guidance of Master Guan Pinghu, a prominent figure of the Jiuyi School, for over ten years. She also learned qin compositions such as "Wen Wang Cao" and "Xiao Xiang Shui Yun" from the renowned qin masters Cheng Gongliang and Gong Yi. In recent years, she has received guidance from the renowned composer, piano educator, and performer Xie Tianji, focusing on the intonation and tone of the ancient qin. More recently, she has studied music analysis and composition under the tutelage of the famous conductor and composer Zhang Jin.

The Way of the Guqin:
Having lived in Vancouver, Canada for forty years, Diana Tang has made relentless efforts to promote Chinese traditional culture. She taught qin at the UBC Asian Studies Center in 2005 and 2009. In 2016, she founded the Stringless Qin Studio, and in 2020, she established the Canadian Guqin Association.
Her book "Qin Dao Wei Yan," which she spent fifteen years writing, is a specialized work on the qin, and it was published in both Chinese and English in 2020 to spread Chinese culture to the world.
